East Bengal Football Club
East Bengal Club was established in Kolkata in 1920 by Late Suresh Chandra Chaudhury. The Club started playing in the local Kolkata League (Second Division) and IFA Shield from the next year, ie, 1921.East Bengal have been the first Indian Club to be invited to tour Europe (USSR/ROMANIA) in 1953. The Club has won all laurels of Indian Football as well three trophies on foreign soil.East Bengal have been participating in the Federation Cup since 1978 and the National Football League since its inception in 1996-97 and are the only Club to feature in all editions of NFL/I-League. The Club was sponsored by United Breweries Group in 1998 and rechristened Kingfisher East Bengal Club.
