Football is truly a global sport and watched by half the world’s population (estimated 3 billion) as per some popular report. One of the widely played and immensely popular sport worldwide. It’s also probably the easiest game to play as far as set up or infrastructure is concerned – all you need is a ball and a small open area and a few friends. You can have the most entertaining play – also can be played in rain or sun and esp if it’s rainy get ready for the slides.

Competions in India

Federation Cup

The Federation is one of the main national football competition and teams of the I-League participate in this tournament. Since 2014 Hero has been the sponsor and hence it’s been known as the Hero Federation Cup since then.

Durand Cup

The Durand Cup is the third oldest football tournament (started in 1888) and it’s a knock-out competition conducted in India. 2016 is the 128th season of this tournament. This year it will be hosted in Delhi and will be played from 29th August. The venue is the Ambedkar Stadium.

Indian Super League (ISL)

The Indian Super League (ISL) is one of the top tournaments in India along with the I-League. The ISL has become very popular since it’s inception in 2014 and is one of the widely followed competitions in India.

I-League

The I-League (aka as Hero I-League) is one of the premier competitions for football in India. The format is based on a system of relegation along with I-League 2nd Division and also supports direct entry.

The season runs from January to early May with teams playing a double header competition within the teams. Currently there are 9 teams in the I-League.
