Women in Blue remain unbeaten in ICC T20 World Cup

The Indian Women’s Team are unbeaten in the 4 league games and have powered their to the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Here’s a look at the league games performance by India Women

Game 1: India v/s New Zealand

The inaugural game of the tournament set the tone for India Women’s campaign in the T20 World Cup. This was the India captain’s show all the way where she hammered 103 off 51 balls with 8 big hits over the fence. In the end big score made the difference and India won by 30 odd runs

Game 2: India v/s Pakistan

Set to bat first Pakistan were always in a bit of trouble losing their 3 quick wickets under 30 runs. But thanks to god midle oder stand between Maroof and Dar, Pakistan reached a respectable 133/7 in 20. But the experienced Mithali Raj held the chase and made an exellent 56 off 47 deliveries. In the end the Indian team overhauled the total with 1 over left.

Game 3: India v/s Ireland

After a great start given by Mithali Raj & Smriti Mandhana , India looked set to post a huge total. But thanks to some very smart bowling in the end, Ireland restricted India to a modest score of 145/6.  In the process the veteran Mithali notched yet another 50 in international cricket. Radha Yadav bowled exceptionally well to get 3 wickets.

Game 4 : India v/s Australia

This was a big match in terms who would come 2nd in the group. With Mithali not feeling well, it was left to Bhatia to open the innings. But with Bhatia & Jemimah falling early, it was left to Smriti Mandhana to anchor the innings and did she do that superbly. With Mandhana scoring 83 and a quick fire 43 by Harmanpreet powered India to a good score of 167/8. The bowlers did an admirable job with everybody pitching in and eventually India won the game easily by 48 runs.

Match Player: Smrithi Mandhana 

India women have played exceedingly well in their league and look like hot favorites to win the World T20 tournament. 

The Semi-Final clash between India and England is scheduled for Nov 23 (5:30 AM IST)
