This is about the US Open Golf played in 1913 and charts the journey of Francis Ouimet playing against the Englishman Harry Vardon. Also shows the disappointment of Francis Ouimet with the game / social structure and he eventually decides to not play in the professional level.

Based on the true story of African-American coach, Henry Boons who is trying to integrate a racially charged town/school set in 1971, Alexandria, Virginia.
Fire In Babylon
Genre: Cricket
A documentary on West Indian Cricket from the 1970 – 1990’s , where the West Indian team under the leadership of Clive Lloyd and with greats like Richards, Marshall, Garner, Greenidge, Haynes were unbeatable in all forms of cricket during that decade. Truly a must- watch movie
Lagaan
Genre: Cricket, set in British Colonial India
This story is about a village which is under the burden of a huge taxation (Lagaan in Hindi means tax) from the local British authorities. An extraordinary situation unfolds whereby the village team is challenged to a cricket match wherein, if the British lose they will forego the taxes and leave the village in peace.
Cindrella Man
Genre: Boxing
This is a biographical movie on heavyweight champion James Braddock and portrays his and the family’s journey through the great depression of 1929. Being an underdog, he wins the famous fight against Max Baer to become the heavyweight champion of the world.
Miracle
Genre: Ice Hockey
Miracle is a story about the US Ice Hockey Team that won a gold in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The American team’s victory over the heavily favored Soviet professionals in the medal round was dubbed the “Miracle on Ice” .
Coach Carter
Genre: Basketball
The true story of a basketball coach of Richmond High School in Virginia. The coach made news when he suspended his team from playing due to poor academic skills and highlights the importance of balance while playing. (Apparently his action caused quite an uproar in sporting circles).
Mary Kom
Genre: Boxing
A biography on Mary Kom and follows the journey of boxing journey and travails till her victory at the 2008 World Boxing Championship. Her victory propelled her to instant stardom and she became an icon for other women athletes.
Invincible
Genre: American Football
It’s based on the true story of Vince Papale who played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1976 to 1978. From a teacher to a part-time bartender, Vince goes for try outs for the Eagles and gets recruited – this movie is about that journey.
Cool Runnings
Genre: Bobsleigh, comedy
This is a comedy based on a Jamaican bob-sledge trip to the Winter Olympics in search of a gold medal. It is loosely based on the Jamaican national Bobsleigh Team’s debut in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.
